There’s been some misinformation spreading about a potential open streets program on 23rd Ave, so we want to set the record straight.
There is NO program in place. Nothing is happening. We are simply in the early, exploratory phase of discussing an idea for 2026.
The concept (still just a concept) would focus on 2 blocks of 23rd Ave on select weekend days. The goal would be to create space for local events, more foot traffic, and stronger support for small businesses.
We’ve been actively meeting with businesses to share the facts, listen to feedback, and answer questions. Many are excited. Some have valid concerns. We’re continuing to reach out to every business, and we welcome every conversation.
Unfortunately, a petition has started to circulate that implies this is a done deal and something to fear. That is simply not true. There is no program to oppose. Nothing will move forward without open dialogue and community support.
Let’s not let fear drive the narrative. Let’s stay rooted in facts, transparency, and the kind of neighbor-to-neighbor collaboration that makes this community so special
